Let’s face it: Orlando is hardly the place for an inexpensive family vacation. But this 110-acre preserve is home to a variety of animals, including alligators, crocodiles, snakes, toads, turtles, and more. Recent visitors agree that it’s a fantastic park and a fantastic value compared to some of the city’s more pricey attractions. Watch handlers wrestle one of the scaly beasts that call Gatorland home in the Legends of the Swamp Arena, or observe more than 20 different species of birds soar through the air in the free-flight rookery.

White Gator Swamp is a must-visit, according to previous visitors: Some of the world’s biggest white alligators reside there. At the Meet-the-Gator attraction close to the arena, you can take pictures with alligators for an extra $10. Just make sure you give this attraction adequate time. To view the majority of the site, many past visitors have advised spending two to four hours there.

Gatorland is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., although animal show times may change depending on the season, so check the park’s website before your trip. Gatorland is located 17 miles south of the city center. LYNX bus route 108 stops right outside the building, or guests can drive and park their cars for nothing in the lot right there. When compared to the prices of other nearby attractions, the prices of tickets here are fair: Tickets for children (ages 3 to 12) cost $19.99 apiece, while admission for adults (age 13 and up) is $29.99 per person. Online reservations will result in a $3 discount. Visitors have access to restrooms, a number of restaurants, a zip line, two playgrounds, a gift store, and different animal exhibits after they enter the park. For certain experiences, such as the purchase of food and souvenirs, as well as the rental of strollers and wheelchairs, there are additional fees.
